A newsletter or ezine (electronically sent newsletter) is one of the best marketing tactics you can do.

It helps to build your credibility and expertise; it allows you to stay in regular touch with prospects and clients; it gives you a place to keep your products and services top-of-mind; it allows you to provide valuable information to people; it's low-cost; and easy to automate and delegate to someone else to do.

Here are some tips to making sure you get the most out of your ezine or newsletter:

1. Send it frequently.

In order for people to get the most out of your ezine and come to see it as a valuable and informative tool they look forward to receiving, you must send it to them on a frequent enough basis.

2. Send it consistently.

One reason for sending out a newsletter is to build your status in people's eyes. You want to be seen as an expert and as someone who's reliable and credible. If you send out your ezine sporadically, it's going to be hard for people to build a trusting relationship with you and feel that they can rely on you.

3. Educate and promote.

You want your ezine to have the right balance of promotion (talking about your upcoming program or new ebook) and education (informative article and calendar of events). Most people feel the right mix is somewhere around 30%/70%. You need to figure out what works best for you and your audience - but keep in mind, excessive selling will turn people off and you'll end up with a lot of people unsubscribing from your newsletter.

4. Ask for some action.

Any marketing that you do should always ask for people to take some action. Your newsletter can ask them to visit your website for a new article, go to your blog to read the rest of the ezine, check out a sales page for your upcoming workshop, sign up for a free teleseminar, and so on. Don't assume that just because you tell people about something great that could benefit them that they'll act on this. Tell them what action to take and make it as easy as possible for them to do that.

5. Get help if you need to.

There are lots of resources available to help you provide a newsletter or ezine to your list of leads and clients. If you're not such a great writer or take too long to write, you can outsource that to a copywriter or service that provides pre-written copy. You can get help from a Virtual Assistant to set up your ezine in your autoresponder software and send it out automatically. You can get a designer to help with the look of the newsletter and creating mastheads or unique icons.

Don't delay in providing an ezine or newsletter to your circle of prospects and customers! Use the suggestions above to start taking action right now!
